The evidence boundary

What LiDAR cannot tell you.

LiDAR does not locate a deer, confirm an active bed, reveal every deer trail, prove present use, or replace scouting. It can identify terrain worth investigating. Tracks, beds, rubs, scrapes, camera history, wind, season, pressure, access, and field knowledge decide whether that terrain matters now.

The selectable visual terrain layer is available today. Experimental LiDAR bedding and vegetation analysis remains outside the 2026 Scored Call. RackIQ will not change that signal's role in a call unless separate validation earns it.

Coverage also varies. RackIQ uses terrain derived from USGS 3DEP where local coverage supports it. Where detailed terrain is unavailable, the map uses a coarser elevation fallback and states the limit.

What can LiDAR reveal for deer hunting?

It can surface benches, saddles, ridge points, draws, funnels, drains, terrain breaks, and smaller landform changes where local survey detail supports them. These are places to investigate, not proof of deer use.

Does RackIQ have a LiDAR terrain layer?

Yes. RackIQ includes a selectable terrain view derived from USGS 3DEP where coverage supports it. A coarser elevation fallback is used and disclosed where detailed terrain is unavailable.

Can LiDAR find deer beds or deer trails?

No. It cannot confirm an active bed, reveal every trail, locate a deer, or prove present use. Validate terrain-informed hypotheses with sign, cameras, conditions, access, and field knowledge.

Does LiDAR change The Scored Call today?

No. The visual terrain layer is available now. Experimental bedding and vegetation analysis does not influence the 2026 Scored Call.

Why not call the layer GroundView?

The live map already uses the clear name LiDAR. RackIQ reserves broader Ground language for interpretation and property intelligence, so hunters can distinguish the source view from the decision system.

How is this different from another mapping layer?

A mapping layer shows terrain. RackIQ helps the hunter compare that terrain with the rest of the property evidence, make a call, and keep the outcome attached to the decision.
